Talking about the coverage
Words to use and words to avoid
The same rules apply to checkout, emails, help pages, ads and anything your team says to shoppers.
✓Use
- “Shipping insurance, powered by InsureShip”
- “Underwritten by Navigators, a Hartford company”
- “Claims are filed with InsureShip”
- “Subject to the policy terms”
- “Optional” and “add shipping insurance”
- Tier 2: “We make shipping insurance from InsureShip available at checkout”
✕Avoid
- Promises such as “guaranteed refund,” “we’ll replace it” or “covers everything”
- Lists of covered or excluded items, or answers about whether a specific item or claim is covered
- “A-rated” or “A+” without naming Navigators
- Calling the coverage free, or describing it as something other than insurance
- Tier 2: selling, soliciting, negotiating, recommending or advising on the coverage. You display the offer; InsureShip is the licensed agency.
Brand rules
Using “Powered by InsureShip”
Your brand leads. InsureShip’s name tells shoppers who the licensed agency is.
✓Do
- Show “Powered by InsureShip” next to your brand on the offer, confirmation, coverage page and claims page
- Write the name as one word with a capital I and S: InsureShip
- Use the InsureShip name and any brand assets only as InsureShip approves in writing
- Keep the disclosure readable: same page, normal text size, not hidden behind a link
✕Don’t
- Shorten, restyle or recolor the InsureShip name or logo
- Suggest InsureShip endorses your other products or services
- Use the InsureShip name in ads, domains or social handles without written approval
- Let affiliates, resellers or influencers promote the coverage without InsureShip’s consent
Claims and support
Who handles what
InsureShip handles every claim. Your team helps shoppers find the right place and shares order details when asked.
| Shopper question | What your team does |
|---|---|
| “My package was lost, damaged or stolen.” | Send the shopper to InsureShip to file a claim at insureship.com/pages/file-claim. |
| “Did my order include shipping insurance?” | Check the order and confirm whether coverage was added. |
| “Is this item or situation covered?” | Don’t answer. Refer the shopper to InsureShip and the policy terms. |
| “What’s happening with my claim?” | Refer the shopper to InsureShip. Only InsureShip can give claim status or decisions. |
| InsureShip asks for order or tracking details | Share them promptly so the claim can move forward. |
| A complaint, legal letter or regulator inquiry about the coverage | Forward it to InsureShip right away. Don’t reply on InsureShip’s behalf. |
Goodwill refunds: if your company chooses to refund or reship an order yourself, that’s your decision and your cost. It isn’t a claim payment, shouldn’t be described to the shopper as insurance, and can’t be recovered from InsureShip or the insurer.

How does a shopper file a claim?
Online with InsureShip at insureship.com/pages/file-claim. InsureShip reviews and decides every claim under the policy terms.
Can we tell a shopper whether something is covered?
No. Questions about whether a specific item or claim is covered go to InsureShip, which decides every claim under the policy terms. Tier 1 Licensed Producers may explain the coverage in general terms under their own licenses, but they don’t decide coverage or claims.

A shopper is unhappy with a claim decision. What do we do?
Listen, then refer them to InsureShip. If it’s a formal complaint, forward it to InsureShip right away.
Can we change the wording on our checkout?
Send the new wording to InsureShip first. Changes go live only after InsureShip approves them.
