Refund policy

Effective date: October 10, 2026

Summary

  • This policy covers the shipping insurance premium charged by InsureShip. InsureShip does not sell the products in your order.
  • You can cancel shipping insurance for a full refund any time before the merchant ships your order.
  • Once your order ships, the premium is fully earned and non-refundable.
  • Returns and refunds for the products are handled by the store under its own policy.
  • If your package is lost, damaged, or stolen, file a claim. A claim payment is not a refund.
  • Questions about a charge? Email hello@insureship.com before contacting your bank.

1. What this policy covers

This Refund Policy applies to the premium for shipping insurance offered by Online Shipping Insurance Services, Inc., doing business as InsureShip ("InsureShip," "we," or "us"), a licensed insurance agency. Coverage is underwritten by Navigators, a Hartford company. The premium is charged on InsureShip's own merchant account, separately from the store's charge for your order, so it may appear as a separate line on your statement.

This policy is consistent with the cancellation terms in the shipping insurance certificate, which are reproduced in Section 4 of our Terms and Conditions. If this policy and the certificate or policy ever conflict, the certificate or policy controls.

2. Cancelling before shipment

You may cancel shipping insurance purchased at checkout for a full refund of the premium at any time before the merchant ships your order. Once cancelled, the shipment is not insured.

3. Orders cancelled by the merchant

If the store cancels your order before it ships, you are entitled to a full refund of the shipping insurance premium for that order. If you do not see the refund within the time described in Section 7, contact us with the details in Section 6 and we will issue it.

4. After shipment

Once the merchant has shipped your order, the coverage has begun and the premium is fully earned and non-refundable, including if the package arrives safely, if you return the products to the store, or if the store refunds your order after shipment. If only part of an order has shipped, contact us and we will review whether any premium for the unshipped part can be refunded.

5. Duplicate or mistaken charges

If you were charged more than once for the same coverage, or charged for coverage you did not select, we will refund the duplicate or mistaken charge after we confirm it.

6. How to request a refund

Email hello@insureship.com and include:

  • your order number;
  • the store name; and
  • the email address you used at checkout.

We may ask for more information, such as the date and amount of the charge, to find your coverage and confirm whether the order has shipped. You can also call 1-866-701-3654.

7. How refunds are paid

Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method. We do not issue refunds in cash, by check, or to a different card unless required by law or if the original method is unavailable. After we issue a refund, the time for it to appear depends on your card issuer or bank, and is often 5 to 10 business days.

8. Product returns and refunds

InsureShip does not sell the goods in your order. Returns, exchanges, and refunds of the products, and the store's own shipping charges, are handled by the store under the store's own return and refund policy. Please contact the store directly. Returning a product to the store does not create a right to a refund of the shipping insurance premium once the order has shipped.

9. Claims are not refunds

If your insured package is lost, damaged, or stolen in transit, file a claim at https://insureship.com/pages/file-claim. Claims are evaluated under the terms of the insurance certificate or policy, including its waiting periods, filing deadlines, and documentation requirements. A claim payment is an insurance benefit, not a refund of your order or of the premium.

10. Chargebacks and payment reversals

Please contact us before disputing an InsureShip charge with your bank or card issuer. Most billing questions can be resolved quickly by email.

If a premium payment is charged back, reversed, or otherwise not honored, and the premium is not repaid, the premium for that shipment has not been paid. Whether coverage applies is governed by the insurance certificate or policy and applicable law.

11. Merchants

This policy applies to shoppers who purchase shipping insurance. Any fees, charges, or payments between InsureShip and a merchant are governed by that merchant's agreement with InsureShip, not by this policy.

12. Your rights under law and the policy

Nothing in this policy limits any right you have under the insurance certificate or policy, or any right to a refund of unearned premium that applicable law requires and that cannot be waived. If the law where you live requires a refund this policy does not describe, we will provide it.

13. Changes and contact

We may update this policy from time to time. The version in effect when you purchased coverage applies to that purchase, unless a later version is more favorable to you.
