Sticky.io Shipping Insurance
Sticky.io lists InsureShip as a built-in provider. Here is how to connect it, how coverage follows subscription rebills, and how to keep the offer clearly opt-in.

Key takeaways
- InsureShip is integrated with Sticky.io (integration built with our fulfillment partner RapidFulfillment). Contact us to turn it on for your store.
- Sticky.io (formerly LimeLight CRM) documents a native InsureShip provider profile, so no custom build is needed for the basic connection.
- You need four values from InsureShip: Customer Number, Policy ID, Key, and the list of Sticky.io product IDs you use for InsureShip.
- If you link InsureShip orders with
master_order_id, every main subscription product needs a matching InsureShip product, and non-shippable rebills need a $0.00 one. - Offer coverage as an unchecked, clearly labeled insurance option, and tell subscribers up front whether it renews with each shipment.
Does Sticky.io include shipping insurance?
Sticky.io is an order management and recurring-billing platform for direct-to-consumer and subscription brands. It rebranded from LimeLight CRM in March 2020, according to its Business Wire announcement. It supports mixed carts that combine subscription and one-time products.
Sticky.io doesn't sell insurance itself. Instead, its InsureShip support article (checked October 2026) walks merchants through connecting InsureShip as a provider. InsureShip is the licensed party: it is licensed by the California Department of Insurance, license #0G55434, and licensed in all 50 states. Established in 2012, InsureShip is backed by Navigators (The Hartford), rated A+ by AM Best.
| Provider field in Sticky.io | What it holds | Who supplies it |
|---|---|---|
| Customer Number | Your InsureShip account number | InsureShip |
| Policy ID | The policy your shipments are covered under | InsureShip |
| Key | Credential that authorizes the connection | InsureShip |
| Products | Every Sticky.io product ID you use for InsureShip | You |
| Alias | An internal label, handy if you run several profiles | You |
How do you add InsureShip to Sticky.io?
- Contact InsureShip. Tell us about your Sticky.io store.
- We enable the integration for your store. The Sticky.io integration was built with our fulfillment partner RapidFulfillment, so there is no API build on your side.
- Choose an opt-in checkout presentation. Pick how the offer appears in your Sticky.io checkout. InsureShip recommends, and configures by default, an opt-in (unchecked) offer. On subscriptions, also decide whether coverage renews with each shipment.
- Customers file claims at /pages/file-claim. InsureShip handles every claim.
Background: what the Sticky.io provider profile involves
For reference, this is the Sticky.io side of the connection, as described in Sticky.io's support article. We walk you through it when we turn the integration on.
- Get your credentials. Contact InsureShip for your Customer Number, Policy ID and Key.
- Create the insurance products. Build the Sticky.io products that will carry the coverage charge. On subscription offers, plan one per main product (see the rebill section below).
- Add the provider profile. Go to Settings > Providers > Add New Provider Profile. Choose the type Membership, then pick InsureShip.
- Fill in the fields. Enter the three credentials, list your InsureShip product IDs, and give the profile an alias.
- Attach the profile to campaigns. Coverage only runs on campaigns the profile is attached to, so check each live campaign.
- Build the checkout option. Add the insurance product to your order form as an unchecked choice, with its price and a link to the terms next to it.
- Test one shippable and one non-shippable order before you send traffic.
Selling coverage after the first purchase instead? Sticky.io's upsell documentation describes submitting add-ons with a step number: step_num in the JSON API, or product_step[productID] in the legacy API. The usual pattern is a NewOrder call for the main product, then NewOrderCardOnFile as Step 2.
How does coverage follow Sticky.io subscription rebills?
This is the part most merchants get wrong. If you use the master_order_id field to tie InsureShip orders to a master order, Sticky.io's docs say each main subscription product needs its own InsureShip product. That includes products for rebills that don't ship. Here is the pattern from Sticky.io's trial example:
| Cycle | Main order | Ships? | InsureShip product |
|---|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Master Order A, recurs to B | Yes | Product A, recurs to B |
| Day 15 | Master Order B, recurs to C | No | Product B, priced at $0.00, recurs to C |
| Day 45 onward | Master Order C, recurs to C | Yes | Product C, recurs to C |
The $0.00 product keeps the insurance schedule in step with the subscription schedule, so the customer is never charged for coverage on a cycle with no package.
How should you disclose coverage on rebills?
Subscriptions are the classic "negative option" plan, where silence means the customer keeps paying. Federal law (ROSCA, 15 U.S.C. § 8403) requires sellers using a negative option online to "clearly and conspicuously disclose[] all material terms of the transaction before obtaining the consumer's billing information." If insurance renews with each shipment, that is a material term. Say so next to the checkbox. For example: "Insure each shipment for $X per delivery. Renews with your subscription; remove it anytime." This is general information, not legal advice.
How do claims work with InsureShip?
What's covered
Loss, damage and theft, including porch piracy, up to $5,000 per shipment.
Who files
The claim is filed online at insureship.com/pages/file-claim.
Who decides
InsureShip handles the claim, so your support team isn't the one judging it.
Because Sticky.io handles billing rather than labels, make sure tracking numbers from your fulfillment partner flow back to the order. One fulfillment vendor's integration guide notes that Sticky.io has no native shipment-notification feature, so confirm how your 3PL posts tracking back (third-party source).
What are the checkout best practices on Sticky.io funnels?
- Opt-in, not opt-out. InsureShip recommends, and configures by default, an opt-in (unchecked) offer. Leave the box unchecked. Several class actions allege that pre-selected shipping protection toggles charged shoppers without their affirmative consent. Those are allegations, but they show the risk. See our shipping protection lawsuit tracker.
- Call it insurance. Use "Shipping insurance," not a vague "protection" label, and link the policy terms.
- Show the price on the same line. Don't make the customer find it in the order summary.
- Check mobile. Long-form funnel pages push the checkbox below the fold on phones. Keep it next to the submit button.
- Match the receipt. The confirmation email should list the insurance line and, for subscriptions, say whether it renews.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is InsureShip a native integration on Sticky.io?
Yes. InsureShip is integrated with Sticky.io (integration built with our fulfillment partner RapidFulfillment). Contact us to turn it on for your store. As of October 2026, Sticky.io's support center has an InsureShip article that sets it up as a Membership provider under Settings > Providers.
Why do I need a $0.00 InsureShip product?
If you link orders with master_order_id, each main subscription product needs a matching InsureShip product. On a rebill that doesn't ship, the matching product is priced at $0.00 so the schedules stay aligned without charging for coverage.
Can I add shipping insurance as an upsell instead of on the order form?
Yes. Sticky.io's API submits upsells with a step number, such as a NewOrderCardOnFile call as Step 2. Make sure the upsell page still labels it as insurance and shows the price.
Should the insurance box be pre-checked?
We recommend leaving it unchecked. Several class actions allege that pre-selected shipping protection was charged without affirmative consent. An unchecked, clearly labeled option avoids that dispute.
How much coverage does each order get?
InsureShip covers loss, damage and theft, including porch piracy, up to $5,000 per shipment. Customers or merchants file claims online at /pages/file-claim.
