SamCart Shipping Insurance

Use a SamCart checkbox order bump to offer licensed shipping insurance on the products you actually ship.

Turn on InsureShip for SamCart
Quick answer: Yes. InsureShip is integrated with SamCart (integration built with our fulfillment partner RapidFulfillment). Contact us to turn it on for your store. SamCart doesn't include shipping insurance of its own. On the checkout page, a Global Order Bump set to the Checkbox type is the cleanest way to let buyers opt in.

Key takeaways

  • As of October 2026, SamCart's help center shows no native shipping insurance.
  • Global Order Bumps let one "Shipping insurance" bump attach to many products at once. They're on the Grow, Scale and Core plans, not Launch.
  • Choose the Checkbox bump type and leave it unchecked, so buyers make an active choice.
  • InsureShip is integrated with SamCart (integration built with our fulfillment partner RapidFulfillment). Contact us to turn it on for your store.

Does SamCart include shipping insurance?

No. SamCart is a checkout-page platform for creators and direct-to-consumer sellers, built around order bumps, upsells and subscriptions. Many SamCart catalogs mix courses and downloads with physical goods, and nothing in its help center covers insuring the physical shipments.

So the setup has two halves. SamCart presents the offer and takes payment. InsureShip, established in 2012 and licensed by the California Department of Insurance (license #0G55434), insures the shipment and handles any claim. Coverage is backed by Navigators (The Hartford), rated A+ by AM Best. The connection between the two is InsureShip's SamCart integration, built with our fulfillment partner RapidFulfillment.

How do you add shipping insurance to SamCart?

  1. Contact InsureShip. Tell us about your SamCart store.
  2. We enable the integration for your store. The SamCart integration was built with our fulfillment partner RapidFulfillment, so there is no API build on your side.
  3. Choose an opt-in checkout presentation. Pick how the offer appears in your SamCart checkout. InsureShip recommends, and configures by default, an opt-in (unchecked) offer.
  4. Customers file claims at /pages/file-claim. InsureShip handles every claim.

Background: how a SamCart insurance bump is built

For reference, SamCart's Global Order Bumps article describes the building blocks of the checkout offer:

  1. Create the bump under Offers > Order Bumps, named something like "Shipping insurance."
  2. Pick the Checkbox type. SamCart offers Button (a clickable add button) or Checkbox (a box with custom text). The checkbox lets you write a full, honest sentence, for example: "Yes, insure my shipment for $X. See terms."
  3. Attach it only to physical products with "Attach to Products." This is where SamCart's catalog-wide bump shines, and also where you can slip up: never attach insurance to digital-only products.
  4. Keep it in sync. Edits to a global bump apply to every product it's attached to, so one wording change updates all checkouts.
  5. Covered orders reach InsureShip through the integration, so there is no webhook build on your side.
  6. Place a test order with the box ticked and one without.
On the Launch plan? SamCart says Global Order Bumps aren't available there. Ask SamCart which bump options your plan includes, or consider an upgrade before building this flow.

Which SamCart webhook events matter for insured orders?

SamCart's webhooks guide lists events you can filter per product. Background: for an insurance bump, the order of events matters:

SamCart event Timing Use for insurance
Checkout charged Fires before the upsell funnel Early signal; the final order may still change if the buyer takes upsells.
Product purchased Per product, including bumps The clearest proof the buyer chose insurance.
Product refunded On refund Keeps covered-order records accurate.
Subscription charged Each renewal Tells you a new shipment, and a new coverage charge, may be due.
Subscription canceled On cancel Stops future coverage.

Because webhooks can be limited to specific products, you can send only orders that include the insurance product. That keeps digital-only sales out of the feed.

What about subscription boxes on SamCart?

SamCart's bump article doesn't say how bumps behave on subscription products, so confirm with SamCart before launch. Whatever the setup, tell buyers whether insurance is a one-time charge or renews with every box. Under federal law (ROSCA), sellers using a negative option, like an auto-renewing plan, must "clearly and conspicuously disclose[] all material terms of the transaction before obtaining the consumer's billing information." This is general information, not legal advice.

Checkout best practices for SamCart bumps

  • Opt-in only. InsureShip recommends, and configures by default, an opt-in (unchecked) offer. SamCart's article doesn't document a pre-checked option, and you don't need one. Several class actions allege that pre-selected shipping protection toggles charged shoppers without consent. These remain allegations; see our lawsuit tracker.
  • Name it accurately. "Shipping insurance" with the price, not "peace of mind package."
  • Link the terms in the checkbox text.
  • Test mobile. SamCart checkouts are often a single long page. Confirm the checkbox, price and link all show on a small screen.
