Next Commerce Shipping Insurance
How direct-response brands on Next Commerce (formerly 29 Next) can add licensed shipping insurance to campaigns and subscriptions.
Turn on InsureShip for Next CommerceReviewed by Kyle Gibson, Compliance Auditor · Updated October 2026
Key takeaways
- Next Commerce (NEXT) is "formerly 29 Next," per its own docs, and combines storefront, funnels, checkout, CRM and native subscriptions.
- As of October 2026, its docs show no native shipping insurance.
- InsureShip is integrated with Next Commerce (integration built with our fulfillment partner RapidFulfillment). Contact us to turn it on for your store.
- Its webhook list includes order, subscription, transaction and dispute events, but no fulfillment event, so tracking data needs its own path.
- Present coverage as an unchecked, clearly labeled option, and disclose whether it renews on subscription shipments.
Does Next Commerce include shipping insurance?
No. Next Commerce describes itself as an ecommerce CRM platform for direct-response and performance DTC brands. Its about page lists storefront, funnels and checkout, CRM, a support helpdesk, native subscriptions and more than 120 payment gateways. Its Stripe partner listing places the company in Singapore. None of that includes shipping insurance.
If you knew the platform as 29 Next, it's the same product: the developer docs now redirect from developers.29next.com to developers.nextcommerce.com.
How do you add shipping insurance to Next Commerce?
- Contact InsureShip. Tell us about your Next Commerce store.
- We enable the integration for your store. The Next Commerce integration was built with our fulfillment partner RapidFulfillment, so there is no API build on your side.
- Choose an opt-in checkout presentation. Pick how the offer appears in your Next Commerce checkout. InsureShip recommends, and configures by default, an opt-in (unchecked) offer. On subscriptions, also decide whether coverage renews with each shipment.
- Customers file claims at /pages/file-claim. InsureShip handles every claim.
Background: where the offer appears in Next Commerce
Next Commerce gives you two ways to build what the shopper sees, and the insurance offer fits into either one:
Campaigns App (dashboard)
Build funnels and offers in the Next Commerce dashboard. Add an insurance product as an optional offer on campaigns that ship physical goods.
Campaign Cart SDK (headless)
For custom front ends. Your developer renders an unchecked insurance checkbox and adds the product to the cart only when the shopper ticks it.
We didn't review Next Commerce's specific bump and upsell docs, so check its campaign docs for current offer types.
Which Next Commerce webhooks carry insurance data?
Background: Next Commerce's webhook settings list these events:
| Event | What an InsureShip integration does with it |
|---|---|
order.created |
Checks whether the insurance product is on the order. |
order.updated |
Picks up later changes, such as a cancellation before shipping. |
subscription.created / subscription.updated
|
Tracks whether coverage is part of the subscription going forward. |
transaction.created |
Confirms the charge, including renewal charges. |
dispute.created |
Flags a chargeback on an insured order. A clearly disclosed, opt-in charge is easier to defend. |
The gap: no fulfillment webhook is listed. Next Commerce's apps ecosystem includes shipping apps such as ShipStation, so tracking numbers usually come from there. We confirm the tracking source when we turn the integration on, because a claim needs shipment details.
How should coverage on rebills be disclosed?
Native subscriptions are core to Next Commerce, so decide up front: is insurance a one-time add-on to the first order, or does it renew with every shipment? Either can work. What matters is that the buyer knows before paying. ROSCA requires online sellers using a negative option to "clearly and conspicuously disclose[] all material terms of the transaction before obtaining the consumer's billing information," and to provide "simple mechanisms for a consumer to stop recurring charges." Let subscribers drop insurance without canceling the subscription. This is general information, not legal advice.
Other checkout best practices
- Unchecked by default. InsureShip recommends, and configures by default, an opt-in (unchecked) offer. Several class actions allege that pre-selected shipping protection toggles charged shoppers without consent. Those claims aren't proven, but the pattern is avoidable. Follow them in our lawsuit tracker.
- Label it as insurance and link the terms beside the checkbox.
- Mind mobile layouts. Direct-response traffic is mostly mobile. Keep price and terms visible near the pay button.
How do claims work with InsureShip?
When a package is lost, damaged or stolen, including porch piracy, the claim is filed online at /pages/file-claim. InsureShip handles it, with coverage up to $5,000 per shipment. Established in 2012, InsureShip is licensed by the California Department of Insurance (license #0G55434), licensed in all 50 states, and backed by Navigators (The Hartford), rated A+ by AM Best.
